Filming - Day 1 [06.01.17]
On the first day of filming I decided to film the underwater scenes. Tima, who is playing the role of the protagonist, was reqiured to hold her breath underwater for the shots. This was no issue since she is good swimmer, which was also what I had to consider before choosing the right person to play this role.
We were given permission to film at the Leisure Centre, though we had to film against the side of the pool. We decided to go two hours before closing, to insure that the pool did not have that many people in it. |
Filming - Day 2 [08.01.17]
We didn't do much on the second day except for filming the opening scene. The way I visioned the opening is for the character to be lying in bed staring blankly at the camera, with the headlights of the cars passing by slightly coming through the window. The bed was not near a window and we were on the third floor, so I searched for YouTube videos of some club lights to imitate the effects of the cars passing by. Overall I think today was successful as the effect and lights matched the first few seconds of the song that im using really well.
One thing that I was still unsure of was the lighting, as I wanted it to be dark while also being able to see her features; so it was quite difficult to control.

Filming - Day 3 (Performance) [14.01.17]
Filming - Day 4 [06.02.17]
On day three of filming I wanted to get as much of the narrative shots as I could. The location I chose was South Bank and The Tate Modern Gallery. The shots at South Bank didn't really give the vibe that I wanted it to as filming after school around 16:00 was not practical since it would have been more busy in those areas. However I was quite pleased with the shots I got at the Tate Modern which included skyline views taken from the top of the skyscraper -to add to the dystopian mood of the video- and the CCTV shots.

DIGIPAK DESIGN IDEAS
For the front cover I'm thinking of maybe creating a glitched effect on the characters face to make it look computerised and distorted to add to the dystopian theme of the MV.

The disc plate will have the band's logo on it simply because I think the placement would look best like that.

Band Social Media Accounts
Instagram
I've created an Instagram account as a social media platform that can promote the Band. I think Instagram is an effective platform as the images of the band and their work could attract the audiences attention easily. It is also fairly easy to build a following very quickly. The images that I have already posted are mainly the images of the band that I took while also filming the performance for the video. I will also be posting images that could give the "fan base" more information on the album, the tour. ect. |

Music Video (Rough Cut)
I was still not completely confident in what i had produced of my music video so far as there are some shots I am not happy with and wish to re-shoot, and telling from the blank spaces it is obviously still unfinished. However, posting this rough cut has been useful as from the peer evaluations I was able to gather useful and helpful advice on my product and the ways that I can proceed to improve it for the final cut. It also allowed me to pause and watch what I've created and to evaluate my own work as well.
How successful was it?I think that I have used proficient use of creative shooting material which is fairly appropriate to the task; which was to create an indie-rock music video by using or challenging generic codes and conventions. this included the controlled use of the camera, close attention to framing and mise-en-scene, and a variety of shot sizes.
However, it wasn't as successful in the editing aspect of things as my my editing skills are still quite basic which holds me back from experimenting and being more creative. |
How close to your original vision is it?Everyone has this amazing and well thought out vision at first so its harder to reach it. Originally I wanted my video to look very professional with the perfect locations but it wasn't all that practical.
Things didn't always go to plan such as the timing and the locations and the only time we had to film is in the afternoons afterschool (during rush hour it would be way too hectic to film). So in my rush to get everything ready to edit, the quality wasn't as good as I'd hoped it'd be. |
How have audience's responded to your rough cut?

Filming day 5 - 16.03.17
Filming was very productive today, and I think I finally have some shots that clarify my narrative and plot. We also used some of the props such as the spray paint. We opted to use chalk-based temporary spray paint which we filmed in my dad's back garden. We also used the yellow lighter and the sunflowers to add to the colour symbolism. |
